The Sun

The Sun. A fundamental source of energy. It glows. It explodes. It shines. It burns out. It burns itself for the life of others. The Earth's core, drained by coal mining, is making a similar sacrifice. Where the sun's rays do not reach, individuals toil to obtain energy sources for the comfort of the rest of the population.

The Sun Project was inspired by an article about the miner Staszko Zięba, published in the mid-1950s. in the Silesian weekly magazine "Panorama". It records a procedure using a sun lamp to compensate for the lack of daylight in the mines. The Sun File responds to the issue of mining with science fiction footage taken in the environment of the experimental Barbara coalmine in Mikołów, Poland, as well as microscopic photographs of coal visually likened to the Sun.

It critically reflects on the possible apocalypse caused by looting, but also offers an unconventional view of energy connections. It is clearer than the sun that non-renewable resources will one day go extinct. If that were to happen to the sun, he would expect the planet its last week of life.

But what darkness will come when we exhaust our own depths?
